These paintings have to do with the Caribbean, in particular Puerto Rico. The paints weave in and out of one another, there is movement on the canvas that parallels itself with movement in and out of identity, in this case Diasporic Identity. So much of our racial, cultural and social identity has its discursive roots with color and color mixing, anxiety and displacement within our own societies and physical surroundings. It is those very conversations that inspired these paintings.
