In dealing with the anxiety of being separated from my family, the inspiration behind the palette are the buildings of the homes my families live in and the bright colors of the buildings through out Puerto Rico. There also lies a racial implication in the way the colors are guided across the canvas. Movements in and out of identity in contemporary society, and the play with unmixed color against the cultural understanding that Puerto Ricans are a mix and descendants of Taino, African and Spanish peoples. These colors are strands of history but also strands of ideas. The movements are social artifacts, but also spiritual tendencies.
